Ministry of Health points out effort of workers in the increase of the productivity in the sector

On the Occasion of being held the VIII Regional Meeting of the Observatories of Human Resources for Health, event of which our country, through the Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) is host, the Health Vice Minister, Diego Fernandez Espinosa, in representation of the incumbent of the Sector, Dr. Carlos Vallejos Sologuren, pointed out the importance of human resources in the increase in the health system in the last ten years.     [Learn more]

In a decade nearly 30 thousand health professionals have migrated.

Informed the Ministry of Health at the VIII Regional Meeting of Human Resources for Health

In a decade nearly 30 thousand health professionals, considering only medical and nurses, migrated to other countries, affirmed Dr. Paulina Giusti, adviser on the office vice ministerial of the Ministry of Health during its exposure " Situational Diagnostic of Human Resources in Peru", carried out today during the first day of the VIII Regional Meeting of the Observatories of Human Resources for Health.

They are approximately 17 thousand 356 nurses and 12 thousand 298 Peruvian physicians those which have traveled to various countries between 1994 and the year 2004. The principal destination of the Peruvian nurses is the United States, whither has migrated 22 percent of the total.      [Learn more]

According to report of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

Women constitute the 70% of the work force in the health sector in Latin America

In Peru 65% of the personnel is female between nurses, midwives, and physicians.

According to a report of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) carried out based on information from thirteen countries of Latin America, around 70 percent of the professionals of the health sector consists of women, situation that is also seen reflected in Peru, where 65 percent of the work force of the Health Sector is female.

Dr. Pedro Brito, manager of the Area of Strengthening of Health Systems of PAHO, said that one of the more important characteristics of the sector is that its personnel is feminine and that increasingly the students of the health careers are women.      [Learn more]

During the closure of the VIII Meeting of the Observatory of Human Resources

Minister Vallejos announces that Ministry of Health will prioritize human resources in the next five years

Event had assistance of the Director of PAHO, Minister of Health of Chile and Vice Minister of Bolivia

The Minister of Health, Dr. Carlos Vallejos Sologuren, announced that the Peruvian Government will prioritize the development of human resources of the health sector in the next five years, to help improve the results of the health system through the optimization in the performance of the health workers.

During his exposure on the last day of the VIII Regional Meeting of the Observatories of Human Resources for Health, the Minister pointed out that in spite of the problems that exist on distribution and inequity of the health workers, this Government has as priority to improve human resources in primary care and thus to benefit to the 13.5 million Peruvians in a state of poverty.      [Learn more]
