The 2006 VIII Regional Meeting of the Observatories of Human Resources for Health in the Americas holds particular importance as it falls during the World Health Organization’s year of human resources for health. With the launching of the 2006 World Health Organization Annual Report, "Working Together for Health," the world is focused on the critical importance of a well-distributed, well-trained, and compensated workforce in achieving effective health systems and meeting the national and international needs of all populations.    [more]

The Toronto Meeting was a political moment to call for action. The Lima Meeting will respond to that call with a specific demonstration of long term action plans and identification of coordinated immediate actions (which we will call "interventions")     [more]

Working Groups

There will be six working groups, one for each sub-region and in addition, a sixth working group will be composed of the Inter- Regional representatives. Peru, Canada and Brazil will be part of different working groups. International funding agencies and technical cooperation partners will participate in all of the six working groups.    [more]
